American Retirement Corporation
Since 1978, American Retirement Corporation has offered a broad range of
care and services to seniors, including independent living, assisted
living, skilled nursing and Alzheimer’s care. During that time period, the
Company has been involved in the development, management or ownership of
over 350 communities. Success has been achieved by implementing models for
senior living that meet the needs of an increasingly aging population.
Currently, the Company is developing Senior Living Networks in 10 major
metropolitan regions. Utilizing its portfolio of large continuing care
retirement communities as “hubs”, the networks are being developed by
adding “spokes” of free-standing assisted living residences located in the
same markets. These networks offer a continuum of living arrangements for
residents and significant marketing and operational synergies for the
bottom line. American Retirement Corporation, located in Brentwood,
TN, a suburb of Nashville, was founded by Jack C. Massey, Dr. Thomas F.
Frist, Sr., and a small group of prominent local businessmen, as a
privately owned, independent company specializing exclusively in serving
the retirement housing industry. Dr. Frist and Mr. Massey were also the
principal founders of Nashville-based Hospital Corporation of America
