The real estate investment trust (REIT) was formed to invest in healthcare-related mortgage debt and real estate including medical office buildings, assisted living facilities, hospitals, labs, and skilled nursing centers. Care’s real estate portfolio consists of facilities throughout the US including Texas, Louisiana, and Utah. Care also provides first lien, mezzanine, and construction loans. Care’s external manager CIT Healthcare, a subsidiary of commercial finance giant CIT Group, feeds it mortgage business. Care, which began operating in 2007, also takes advantage of opportunities outside the usual scope of CIT Healthcare.
