Physician Medical Groups M&A: Buying, Selling and Valuing

Recorded Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern)

Physician medical group acquirers have historically been specialized physician practice management companies, or PPMs, that target specific medical group practices (anesthesiology, hospitalist, orthopedics and radiology, to name a few). Recently, hospital systems have become active in this market as buyers, as they build up a framework for the accountable care organizations (ACOs) prescribed by the Affordable Care Act. Our panel will discuss what drives this market, where and when to buy or sell, who’s buying what and what influences the valuation of physician medical groups.
