Home Health & Hospice: Buying, Selling and Valuing
Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern)
Home health companies have been a very popular target for mergers and acquisitions. 2015 started off very strong with a few large home health care providers being purchased. Hospitals are looking to either purchase or partner with home-health companies and thereby extend their continuum of care into the post-acute segment, especially when the patient care focuses on seniors, pediatrics, or residents of rural communities.
Beginning in January 2016, CMS will allow about 140 hospices around the country to care for patients who may continue seeking a curative treatment to slow their disease. The first stage of this test, called the Medicare Care Choices Model, rolls out in January, with the second stage scheduled to begin in 2018.
