Shell Point is one of the largest lifecare retirement communities in the United States. Moreland is a graduate of Columbia International University. He has been a lifelong student and a sought-after speaker on matters of business and life. Moreland gives presentations on sales and marketing in the business sector. Prior to coming to Shell Point in 1984, Moreland owned and operated a retail and catalog business in New England. Today, Moreland oversees the sales and marketing division of Shell Point and manages a staff of nineteen professionals. Under his direction, Shell Point achieved and maintained consistent optimal occupancy rates for more than two decades in markets that were both strong and weak. He has successfully guided the community to a position of strength in the industry through strategic planning, market and competitor analysis and careful study of the rapidly changing market trends of America’s senior population.

Due to his recognized leadership in the lifecare industry, Moreland’s opinion and perspective is sought after by industry leadership. He has served as a representative of the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission, formerly an independent accrediting body sponsored by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. As a CCAC evaluator, he has traveled the country to assess candidate facilities and accredited community’s on-going compliance with the CCAC standards as part of the overall accreditation process.

In addition to his position at Shell Point, David Moreland serves on the Board of Trustees of Columbia International University in South Carolina, Chapel Point Retirement Community in Carlisle, PA and Foundation in Christ in Galway, Ireland. He provides marketing services to organizations on a consulting basis. He is regarded by many as an authority on the mature market.
