Being Thankful For Care Givers
I just spent last weekend with my 91-year old father in Florida who, after 12 years in his independent living apartment at his CCRC, moved into assisted living two months ago. My siblings and I couldn’t be happier with the move, and while initially hesitant, my father is very glad he moved when he did.
The move and transition were seamless, and since for a few decades I have been a very vocal proponent of the CCRC model, it was nice to see it work so well. The health care staff is the same that went up four stories several times each day to see him for the nine months before the move to assisted living, and they treat him like family. Well, he is a loveable sort of guy, and still has that twinkle in his eye.
So on this Thanksgiving Eve, I have a lot to be thankful for, but I have to thank the wonderful staff at the Callahan Center of Plymouth Harbor in Sarasota for doing what you do every day. So Yasse, Yaima, Cindy, Mary, Connie, Stacy and Liz, and all the care givers who serve our elderly, thank you, and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
