Arnold Whitman, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chairman of Formation Capital LLC, has been actively involved with investing in seniors housing and health care for the past 25 years. His career started in 1985 as Director of Acquisitions for MediPlex and evolved into his role as Vice President of Meditrust in 1986. In 1993, he left Meditrust to form Health Care Capital Finance, a private debt provider. HCCF eventually merged into PRN Mortgage Capital (a partnership with SouthTrust Bank and ContiFinancial services) where he acted as President. In 2000, Mr. Whitman created Formation Capital as an advisory and equity investment firm in the senior care sector, and it has since coordinated the investments in over $4 billion of transactions. In addition, Mr. Whitman is a founder in Prime Care Properties and a founding member and current executive board member of Care Institute, a not-for-profit owner of seniors housing and care properties.
Lawrence A. Cohen is Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Capital Senior Living Corporation. Capital Senior Living Corporation is one of the nation’s largest operators of residential communities for senior adults. Mr. Cohen serves on the boards of various charitable organizations and was a founding member and is on the executive committee of the Board of the American Seniors Housing Association. From 1991 to 1996, Mr. Cohen served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PaineWebber Properties Incorporated, which controlled a real estate portfolio with a cost of approximately $3 billion, including senior living communities of approximately $110 million. Mr. Cohen has earned a Masters in Law in taxation, is a licensed attorney and is also a Certified Public Accountant. He has had positions with businesses involving senior living for 21 years.
 
David Roth is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Group. Since joining Blackstone in 2006, Mr. Roth has been involved in sourcing and analyzing Blackstone’s real estate investments in several markets and types of property. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Roth was a Principal in the acquisitions group at Walton Street Capital where he was involved in numerous real estate transactions. Mr. Roth received a BA with a major in Government from Dartmouth College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude.  He also received a JD from New York University School of Law. Mr. Roth is also a Certified Financial Analyst Charterholder.
 
J. Justin Hutchens was appointed as the President and Chief Operating Officer of National Health Investors on February 25, 2009. Prior to joining NHI, he held both regional and national management positions with assisted living and long-term care operating companies. Mr. Hutchens has national operating experience as the Senior Vice-President & COO of Summerville Senior Living in 2003 until the Summerville merger with Emeritus Senior Living (NYSE:ESC) in 2007 at which time he was appointed the Executive Vice-President & COO role of Emeritus. He received a B.S. degree in Human Services from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Mr. Hutchens undertook his graduate studies in Management at Regis University in Denver, CO. He completed an Executive Management Program studying Measurement and Control of Organizational Performance at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. On March 10, 2010, the Board has nominated Mr. Hutchens as a Director of the Company, subject to his election by the shareholders at the 2010 annual meeting.

Stephen M. Monroe is a respected and often quoted industry leader. He is the managing editor and partner at Irving Levin Associates, Inc., a research and publishing firm founded in 1948. The firm specializes in the seniors housing and health care investment markets and delivers timely market intelligence to subscribers through financial newsletters, acquisition reports and databases. Mr. Monroe is the editor of The SeniorCare Investor, the leading industry newsletter, and The Senior Care Acquisition Report, an often quoted annual study of acquisition trends in the senior care market, and executive editor of Senior Living Business. These publications have won numerous industry awards.
