Earlier in April, Pediatrica Health Group, based in Coral Gables, Florida, announced its second acquisition of the year with the purchase of Daytona Beach Pediatrics. The practice has one location in Daytona Beach, Florida. According to the press release, the practice is owned and operated by Dr. Louis Orezzoli.
Pediatrica Health Group is a multi-site, pediatric primary care organization providing equitable access to pediatric primary care. It supports providers and health care teams with modern technologies and the resources needed to provide tailored patient care. The group was founded in 2024. According to its website, it has seven locations across Florida.
The LevinPro HC team spoke with Roberto Palenzuela, the CEO and founder of Pediatrica Health Group, who was able to provide valuable insight into the transaction.
This transaction positions Pediatrica Health Group to expand accessibility to top-tier care and expands its reach and care offering while enhancing the patient experience. The financial terms were not disclosed.
“The Daytona Beach practice’s physical location helps us build a presence and provide access to care across the state and beyond,” said Palenzuela. “More than that, Dr. Orezzoli is well established in the area, and despite having served generations of families, he could only take on so many patients without having more resources. The local community needing pediatric primary care is vastly underserved, and we aim to change that.”
In our conversation, Palenzuela did say that since the acquisition, a new physician (Dr. Anabella Torres) and additional support staff had joined the practice, reinforcing Pediatrica Health Group’s commitment to the practice. He went on to say that Pediatrica Health Group is not limited to Florida and, if the right opportunity arises, the group could expand beyond the state to provide care to as many patients as possible.
Additionally, highlighting Pediatrica Health Group’s desire to expand, this represents the group’s second acquisition of 2025; in March, it purchased Rainbow Pediatric Center, a 15-physician and four-location practice in Florida.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, there have been three pediatric transactions announced since the start of 2025. In 2024, there were four pediatric acquisitions and 11 in 2023. If pediatrics M&A continues for the rest of 2025 at a similar pace, we project that it will outpace 2024 and possibly 2023 in terms of deal volume.
When speaking of how this transaction fits into the larger picture of pediatrics M&A trends, Palenzuela had a lot to say. He noted that Daytona is a “snapshot” of the issues facing the physician medical group market, such as the financial demands and constraints on resources, which are especially heightened in the pediatrics specialty.
According to Palenzuela, Dr. Louis Orezzoli was “a physician who provided exemplary care but was overwhelmed and limited by the burdens of running the practice to continue improving care and expanding their reach, making it nearly impossible to continue to operate independently.”
“The financial resources required to keep up are steadily increasing, and, in turn, providers are putting in more time just to keep the status quo,” he said. “This makes it difficult to invest in improving technology and infrastructure to enhance patient care. Constraints on time and resources also mean limited accessibility to care for the community; the cost of keeping up is too great to expand care to Medicaid and other social programs.”
During the closing of our conversation, Palenzuela hinted that while he cannot get into any specifics yet, the group does have several transaction announcements lined up. Sign up for LevinPro HC to stay on top of those announcements.
