Second Autumn Leaves community for Oklahoma City
The LaSalle Group recently broke ground on its latest Autumn Leaves-branded memory-care community, a 30,000 square-foot, $9.5 million project in Oklahoma City that will serve nearly 50 residents dealing with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Autumn Leaves of Southwest Oklahoma City is The LaSalle Group’s second venture in the Oklahoma City metro area; the company recently opened Autumn Leaves of Edmond in nearby Edmond, Oklahoma.
Autumn Leaves of Southwest Oklahoma City will feature LaSalle’s innovative building design, along with cutting-edge technology, to ensure a calm, safe, and engaging environment for residents. Unique to this particular new property, however, will be a tornado safety area—a corridor reinforced with additional concrete on all sides that will serve as a shelter during the severe weather that too-often affects this region of the country. The area will be large enough for residents, staff, and visitors to seek shelter during an emergency, according to Kay Adkins, Director of Development for The LaSalle Group.
Including this new Oklahoma City project, The LaSalle Group, based in Irving, Texas, has 36 Autumn Leaves specialized memory-care communities in four states—either open or under construction—with the ability to serve more than 1,800 residents. The development of Autumn Leaves of Southwest Oklahoma City is the result of a partnership among The LaSalle Group, Silverado Interests, and Prosperity Bank. The community is expected to open in the first quarter of 2015.

Trilogy’s new communities open in Indiana, Michigan
Louisville, Kentucky-based Trilogy Health Services just celebrated the opening of its 81st and 82nd senior living health communities in the Midwest: Cedar Creek Health Campus, in Lowell, Indiana, opened on June 19; The Willows at Okemos, in Okemos, Michigan, opened a week later on June 26.
Cedar Creek and The Willows at Okemos each offer assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and transitional care. Cedar Creek has the capacity to accommodate 24 residents in assisted living and 58 residents in its health center. The Willows at Okemos also can accommodate 24 residents in assisted living but 68 residents in its health center. Cedar Creek also offers specialized memory care (14 units), adult day services, and respite care. Both communities feature Trilogy’s “Village Center” residential concept—small neighborhood clusters surrounding a central gathering area that includes a full-service restaurant, ice cream parlor, health club, and other amenities.
As part of the opening celebrations for its new communities, Trilogy offers attractive incentives to those who join the new community’s “Founders Club.” To qualify, prospective residents simply need to complete an application for either community and put down a fully refundable deposit by a date certain. The incentives include first selection of the suite location and floor plan, no move-in fees, and a discounted reservation fee.
Trilogy operates senior living health communities throughout Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. Cedar Creek is Trilogy’s 49th community in Indiana; The Willows at Okemos is the company’s ninth Michigan location, with a tenth—The Willows at Howell—expected to open in early 2015.

LCB Senior Living and The Congress Companies begin next project
The Residence at Five Corners, a senior living community in Easton, Massachusetts, is the latest project being undertaken by developer LCB Senior Living, LLC, and The Congress Companies, a full-service construction firm that specializes in senior living projects. The 84,000 square-foot, 74-unit community will offer independent living and assisted living apartments (studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom), along with common areas that include comfortable living rooms, a library, cafés, and an exercise room. Residents will also enjoy access to private dining, entertainment, and recreation activities. A separate memory care wing will have its own common areas and amenities in a secure environment. The Architectural Team of Chelsea, Massachusetts, is the designer of the project. Construction will begin this summer, with completion expected by late 2015.
LCB Senior Living, LLC, based in Norwood, Massachusetts, is a developer/owner/operator of senior living communities throughout New England, with four currently in operation in Massachusetts and one each in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. An additional six communities are in development: two in Massachusetts and two in Connecticut, expected to open in fall 2014 or early 2015; another in Connecticut and the new project in Massachusetts, expected to open by late 2015.
The Congress Companies, headquartered in Peabody, Massachusetts, has been a family business since general contractors—and brothers—Peter and Paul Nicolson founded the company some 60 years ago. Among their claims to fame was having built more than 200 Howard Johnson, Ground Round, and Red Coach Grille restaurants and 80 Howard Johnson hotels in and around New England and elsewhere in the Northeast. Now owned and operated by a second generation of Nicolsons, The Congress Companies followed market demands and transitioned smoothly into the senior living/health-care and multifamily industries. So far, the company has completed more than 80 projects in those markets.
In addition to The Residence at Five Corners in Easton, Massachusetts, LCB is working with The Congress Companies on three of its senior living development projects currently under construction: The Residence at Riverbend, a 75-unit senior living community in Ipswich, Massachusetts; The Residence at Brookside, a 74-unit community in Avon, Connecticut; and The Residence at South Windsor Farms, an 80-unit community in South Windsor, Connecticut.
